Cheryl leads the creative vision at Intrinsic Studio Co., shaping each project with a focus on balance, clarity and refinement. Known for her ability to envision the potential of a space before it’s transformed, she brings a calm, intuitive perspective—blending form and feeling in ways that are meaningful and personal.
Her work is anchored in the belief that design holds both emotional and functional power. Influenced by her Southeast Asian heritage, global outlook and commitment to holistic living, Cheryl approaches each project with care, insight and an understanding of how design supports wellbeing in the everyday.
Cheryl’s background in creative direction, business leadership and mind-body principles shapes our work, guiding each project with a grounded and purposeful approach. Under her leadership, Intrinsic has become known for interiors that are attuned, layered, and quietly transformative—spaces that foster connection and ease.

MANAGING DIRECTOR
Calvin’s path to Intrinsic Studio Co. has been shaped by a life of movement—growing up across multiple countries gave him a deep appreciation for the importance of grounding, stability and connection. These values now guide his role, ensuring each project is approached with clarity, purpose and care for the people who will one day inhabit the space.
With a background in construction and IT systems, Calvin brings the operational grounding that has supported the Studio’s continued growth. He thrives on solving complex challenges and connecting the dots—bridging creative vision with real-world execution in a way that’s seamless and considered.
As Managing Director, Calvin plays a key role in guiding each project from concept to completion—ensuring the process is just as special as the design itself.
OUR STORY
Intrinsic Studio Co. was founded by Cheryl Tay in 2012 with a simple belief: The spaces we inhabit should restore, support and inspire. What began as a series of residential transformations grew into a full-service design practice rooted in holistic living.
In 2015, Calvin joined full-time, bringing construction insight and systems thinking to help scale the studio’s growth. Together, they have shaped Intrinsic into a practice defined by clarity, care and a highly personalized approach to interior design.
Today, Intrinsic is known for crafting purposeful spaces—homes, wellness environments and secondary residences that feel refined, grounded and aligned with the lives our clients are living now, and the ones they’re building next.
