PROJECT NORMANDALE
MINIMALIST CONTEMPORARY / NATURE-ROOTED / RETRO-INSPIRED
Built in 1982 and unchanged ever since, this Unionville home sits quietly across from a stretch of forest, trails, ponds and winding creeks. Still in its original condition when our clients purchased it, the property held a quiet presence; full of potential and connection to its surroundings.
Rather than rebuild, we chose to work within the home’s existing footprint, reimagining the layout to be more open, purposeful and aligned. The flow of the space was reworked to support both everyday living and modern entertaining. The design is minimalist and contemporary, softened by natural textures, gentle curves and a subtle retro-nod to the era it was built in. A quiet palette of soft woods, creamy stone and matte black details creates a calm, timeless backdrop.
Our scope extended beyond interiors to include a full exterior upgrade—roof, windows, balcony, stonework and landscaping were all redesigned to better connect the home to its natural surroundings and improve its function and flow. The connection to nature was central, extending beyond aesthetics to honour a love for animals, the outdoors and the setting in which the home is situated.
Art and architecture are layered throughout—sculptural forms, soft edges and curated pieces that speak to the natural world. Together, they shape a narrative that ties indoors and out, and invites a slower, more grounded way of living.
